Katy Perry announced her new album, ‘143’ will drop on September 20 – marking the 39-year-old singer’s sixth studio album, and her first since 2020’s Smile. According to a press release shared with PEOPLE, Perry’s forthcoming album marks a “sexy, fearless return to form” for the 13-time Grammy-nominated artist.

Perry shared a in a statement: “I set out to create a bold, exuberant, celebratory dance-pop album with the symbolic 143 numerical expression of love as a throughline message”. ‘143’ is a nod to the throwback pager translation for “I love you” (the usage dates back to the early 1900s, per Dictionary.com.)

The lead single from 143, “Woman’s World,” is described as a “powerful celebration of womanhood in all its forms.” Perry promoted her single on Instagram on July 4, paying tribute to her 2010 smash hit with a patriotic photo of herself wearing a bedazzled, star-shaped swimsuit emblazoned with stars and stripes: “BB UR A FIREWORK 🎆and speaking of work, WOMAN’S WORLD IS GOING TO WORK IN ONE WEEK HAPPY 4TH 🇺🇸

The song, co-written alongside songwriter Chloe Angelides and producers Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, Vaughn Oliver, Rocco Did It Again!, and Aaron Joseph, arrived alongside the official video that just dropped, with Perry appearing as the ‘ultimate pin-up girl’ and taking on a construction site before she’s hit by an anvil. The pop songstress then appears in a female-led apocalyptic world and causes fun mayhem with her fellow women, with influencer Trisha Paytas making a cameo appearance in the visual.
